iNTRODUCTION 

In Somalia, IDLO has been promoting equitable access to justice for Somali citizens, including vulnerable populations, through a reformed and modernized Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) system in Somalia.

IDLO is supporting the establishment and operationalization, through standard operation procedures, of six new ADR Centers in Puntland State and Benadir Region to improve access to justice. In light of the essential role played by informal justice actors and the newly-established ADR Centers within their communities as peace and justice seekers, it is vital that ADR Centre Adjudicators are familiar with the Somali Provisional Constitution, the judicial system, and human rights standards and the Somali Law provisions with reference to their area of jurisdiction

Objectives.

The general purpose of the workshop was to familiarize participants with  the Somali Provisional Constitution, the judicial system, and human rights standards and the Somali Law provisions with reference to their area of jurisdiction

The specific objectives were to:

  • To familiarize the participants with the ADR centers and procedures and women’s role in promoting the traditional justice system
  • the Somali Provisional Constitution informal justice in the centers;
  • human rights standards
  • the Somali Law provisions with reference to their area of jurisdiction.

Methodology

The facilitator adopted different methods in different sessions in order to deliver the workshop topics effectively. Especially the facilitator used participatory methods in order to engage the trainees and motivate them. The following methodologies were engaged in the workshop for successful delivery.

  • And Slide shows.

Evaluation

The training atmosphere was great, the beneficiaries where eager to learn, as our classes where interacting   , the group where asking questions. as the evaluation was done through observations  , their understanding of the subjects has improved . the workshop added value to to the participants who attended the workshop and a change was visible .

Conclusion

The four days training was very successful and the beneficiaries where delighted for the knowledge

They gained from the training.
